About our Organic Eggs x 6: Currently All Bainbridge Farm
6 Fresh Free Range Eggs (medium size) all certified organic and laid at Bainbridge Farm, Northumberland, with an emphasis on the welfare of the hens as a top priority. Bainbridge Farm is a family run farm based in Northumberland. When in season, we sell our own free range eggs from Laura's Layers, the entertaining chickens at The Paddock. Always Free Range. Always High Welfare. We currently have some of our own eggs available for the delivery service, these are sent out weekly when available at random. Unfortunately we are unable to process special requests for our eggs only, however you can purchase them from our farm shop. We aim to reuse all of our egg boxes, so please return these to your driver or to our farm shop for reuse, provided they are in a usable condition. From time to time, we may need to substitute eggs with those from a different supplier depending upon availability. They will always be free range, organic & high welfare.
Are the eggs from your own hens? In short - No, they are not all from our own hens.
At The Paddock Smallholding we have a small flock of 50-70 hens of various ages. Most of the hens have been rescued or hatched at the smallholding. We don't kill our male chicks, and we don't kill our hens for reaching a certain age. There is however a certain amount of science goes into producing eggs & they are a seasonal product. Egg production will naturally slow down as hens get older, & during the winter months when there is less light. As we aim to keep the hens as naturally as possible on our smallholding, they will often also go broody during the summer months, hatching their own chicks, meaning they will also stop laying. As a result of this more natural approach, our egg numbers vary throughout the year due to factors outside of our control. This means we are unable to guarantee the supply of our own eggs to anyone, and we work with other farms to ensure a regular supply. We do know all of our suppliers personally & trust in their welfare practices. Please do not assume you will receive eggs from Laura's Layers.
